Seoul Extends Invitation to Global Business
The efficient, professional services of the Seoul Convention
Bureau make it easier than ever to conduct business and
host corporate meetings in Seoul.
The Seoul Convention Bureau (SCB), a division of the Seoul Tourism
Organization, provides support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
and foreign institutions holding meetings and conferences in the vibrant
South Korean capital city.
“We are in charge of international marketing and public relations for
Seoul as a convention city,” says Diane Kim, deputy chief of SCB. “For all
types of events, ranging from major conventions and exhibitions to incentive
travel and corporate meetings, we provide services at every level, be
it the initial bid to host all the way through to the final staging of events.”
Seoul is committed to the advancement of the city as a global convention
hub. SCB has joined efforts with the city to increase its competitiveness
and service quality for international customers.
Under the newly introduced corporate meeting support program,
SCB now offers substantial subsidies to attract more international corporate
meetings and conferences. Earlier this year, the Seoul Metropolitan
Government drastically reduced support requirements so that official
meetings of 30 or more foreign participants staying in Seoul for at least
two consecutive nights are eligible for support funding. A large number of
SMEs and foreign institutions have already submitted inquiries since the
requirement change was enacted.
While this highlights the effectiveness of Seoul’s decision to support
corporate meetings, more importantly it demonstrates the city’s determination
to provide strategic knowledge and financial assistance to SMEs.
